When Jill made the move to Illinois she was well aware that she would have to start all over again in her new location and that would entail locating a new physician and a Chicago dentist as well as a piano teacher for the kids. She was able to find a doctor and a piano teacher without too much trouble but it took a while before she found an Evanston dentist that she felt would be a good fit for her entire family. The qualities she was looking for consisted of:
• Friendly demeanor - A warm and friendly demeanor and personality are very important to most people especially when they have young children who are going to the doctor or simply having their annual checkup and teeth cleaning. A professional who knows how to relate to people is in high demand and usually has a very loyal following.
• Good front office - The person who answers the phone when you call to schedule an appointment is an important link to the office itself. In times of distress, like when you have broken a tooth or you have a tremendous toothache, it means a lot to have someone who is kind and sympathetic. It is also very reassuring to trust that this person will be sure to get you in as soon as possible to ease your suffering.
• Comfortable and clean waiting room - This is an important aspect because it gives a glimpse into how all of the office areas are taken care of. Many people pass through the doors and some of them are unwell so it is vital that the medical waiting rooms and offices are thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis. It is also a good idea if the waiting rooms are furnished with comfortable furniture with plenty of good lighting and current magazines available for patients to read while they are waiting their turn to be seen.
• Updated equipment - A well furnished examination room is an indication that most likely the person you have chosen to take care of either your physical wellbeing or your teeth has kept up with the latest technology available and has invested in the proper tools to do so. Many times it can save you an unnecessary trip to a specialist if your family care professional has the proper equipment at hand for minor problems.
• Reasonable rates - It is very important that any professional that you use for medical reasons is someone who will accept your current insurance coverage. Even if this is the case, there will always be charges that insurance will not cover and you will have to pay out of pocket for them. Therefore, it is wise to be sure that those charges are reasonable and not extravagant or outrageously high. Many offices will work with you on a payment plan when you have to have extensive work done such as a crown or an implant and this is very helpful. Remember, it never hurts to ask for a payment plan but it will not usually be offered if you do not request it.
